In the field of heating and cooling metering, electromagnetic heat meters enable quantitative monitoring of system energy consumption by measuring the flow rate and temperature difference of the heat-carrying fluid.

Measurement Principle

Electromagnetic heat meters operate based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction and thermodynamic formulas, with flow measurement and temperature measurement working in tandem. When a conductive fluid flows through the magnetic field generated by the excitation coil, an induced electromotive force proportional to the flow velocity is generated, thereby providing flow data. Simultaneously, a pair of temperature sensors measures the supply and return water temperatures, respectively, to calculate the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet water.

 

System Configuration

The electromagnetic heat meter primarily consists of three components: a flow sensor, a pair of temperature sensors, and an energy accumulator. The flow sensor operates based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction, while the temperature sensors—typically platinum resistance thermometers—are responsible for collecting supply and return water temperature signals. The energy accumulator performs real-time heat calculations and stores cumulative data. The measuring tube contains no moving parts or flow-restricting elements, ensuring no additional pressure loss during operation.

 

Key Features

The electromagnetic heat meter can simultaneously display data such as cumulative heat, instantaneous flow rate, inlet temperature, outlet temperature, and temperature difference, and is equipped with remote communication capabilities. Some models support bidirectional metering for both cooling and heating, making them suitable for various energy metering scenarios. The flow measurement range is wide, allowing for flexible selection based on system requirements.
